Baha Mar Resort is looking for a new kind of CFO, a Chief Flamingo Officer:

Baha Mar is conducting a local and global search to find the Chief Flamingo Officer, inviting candidates with a passion for wildlife, conservation, hospitality and the tropical environment of the Caribbean to apply. In this dream role, the Chief Flamingo Officer will be responsible for the caretaking of Baha Mar’s flock of flamingos, arriving to the resort destination this spring. Baha Mar’s resident flamingos will inhabit the Baha Mar Flamingo Mansion, an expansive indoor, outdoor, aquatic and dry habitat designed to house the Bahamian birds. The Chief Flamingo Officer will oversee the Flamingo Mansion, interacting with resort guests and designing interactive programming for Baha Mar’s guests.

As Chief Flamingo Officer, the lucky candidate will work with Baha Mar’s Chief Scientist, and will have the opportunity to grow and thrive as part of a team dedicated to wildlife and conservation efforts at Baha Mar. The Flamingo Habitat is an integral part of the Baha Mar Ecological, Aquatic Conservation Habitat Sanctuary (BEACH Sanctuary). Here, Baha Mar guests have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment of the Bahamas, taking part in Baha Mar’s commitment to protect, preserve and celebrate the islands’ wildlife.

The selected candidate will display a passion for hospitality and strong people skills, as the Chief Flamingo Officer will not only protect and care for Baha Mar’s resident flamingos, but also lead the design and creation of innovative guest experiences and programming, especially for Baha Mar’s Explorer’s Club, the resort’s kid programming.

Qualified applicants should have a degree in Zoology or related field, or equal experience, alongside ample knowledge working in the care of exotic animals, specifically bird species, at an accredited professional environment. The Chief Flamingo Officer will display wide understanding of biology, ecology and behavior requirements of animal species along with animal habitat maintenance, nutrition, and animal observation skills.
