The Neotropical Bird Club (NBC) awards grants of $1,500, $3,000 and $5,000 (US dollars) for bird conservation work or research in the Caribbean, Mesoamerica, and South America:
The NBC Conservation Awards Programme invites applications for one of three categories of award the Club is able to offer:
Small grants – up to $1,500: available for projects implementing direct conservation actions, or conservation research. Awards are only given to projects carried out by nationals and/or residents of countries in the Neotropics (i.e. the Caribbean, Middle America and South America).
Medium grants – up to $3,000: available for projects implementing direct conservation actions, or conservation research. Awards are only given to projects carried out by nationals and/or residents of countries in the Neotropics (i.e. the Caribbean, Middle America and South America).
Juan Mazar Barnett award – up to $5,000: this award has been created in Juan’s memory following a generous donation from his family. One award can be given annually in this category. The award seeks to encourage early-career Neotropical bird conservationists and researchers, and will be presented for the NBC conservation award proposal that best captures Juan’s spirit: technical expertise combined with a passion for birds and bird conservation.
Applications are assessed twice yearly, with deadlines on 1st January and 1st July. Visit the NBC website for more information and guidance on how to apply.
