A few days ago I wrote about what the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is doing to help preserve the Hispaniola hutia and Hispaniola solenodon. The Durrell Trust’s work in the Caribbean goes back 30 years; they have contributed to conservation efforts for local species such as the Montserrat Oriole (previously mentioned on Green Antilles), the St. Lucia Parrot (also previously mentioned), the Mountain Chicken, the Cayman Blue Iguana (mentioned yesterday), the Jamaican Boa and several more.
Find out more by visiting Durrell’s website and browsing through the ‘Caribbean’ section of their blog archives.
