Environmental approval has been granted for the construction of a 50MW wind energy project in the Dominican Republic:
Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa has secured a crucial environmental license for the 50MW project it hopes to build in Villa Vasquez, Dominican Republic.
The permit was granted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to Parque Eolicos del Caribe (Pecasa), which is 57% owned by Gamesa (GAM SM). The move clears the way for the wind farm, located in the north eastern province of Monte Cristi, to proceed to construction, energy regulator CNE said via a press release. If completed, it would be the Dominican Republic’s first operating wind farm.
