The government of St. Kitts and Nevis is exploring alternative energy options in an attempt to reduce both their energy bill and their reliance on fossil fuels. Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas has said that:
These forms of clean energy will create downward pressure on the price of electricity and thereby boost economic activity and improve the quality of life for our people.
Moves towards the production of geothermal energy on Nevis are already well underway, and the twin islands are also taking steps to make use of wind energy.
St. Kitts and Nevis has been committed to sustainable energy policy and planning since 2005.
